NEWS ABOUT THE SNAP PROGRAM
The largest increase to food assistance benefits has been approved for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Benefits are expected to be inncreased by 25 percent above pre-pandemic levels. More information will be announced by representatives of the federal program.
WE'RE GETTING CLOSER TO THE END OF THE FARMERS MARKET SEASON
The end of the 2021 farmers' market season will come soon enough. Spoil friends and family members with outrageous dishes made with fresh fruit and produce from the Española Farmers Market.
Now is the time to plan on buying squash and onions and other items that will last until the cold weather sets in. Now is when market customers are planning to roast their green chiles and freeze them for the cold months ahead. Ask a real New Mexican and they will admit that they are hooked on green chiles grown in the northern part of the state.
